POSITION OVERVIEW:

Patient Accounts Reps are responsible for reviewing and accurately posting payments and rejections from insurance remittances and patient payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Post payments and adjustments to patients’ accounts from patient statements, remittance advices, all carriers and electronic downloads, including collections accounts
  • Identify invoices that have a secondary carrier and ensure all information is correct for secondary billing to be completed
  • Post voucher rejections from carriers appropriately
  • Input all zero payment vouchers and insurance rejections
  • Complete reconciliation and reports as required
  • Other duties as assigned by department Supervisor or Manager

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 35 WPM and 10-key 8,000 KPH with 95% accuracy
  • Must be able to read and understand an EOB
  • Previous payment posting experience strongly preferred

 

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Job performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting
  • Occasional standing/bending
  • Occasional lifting/carrying (20lbs or less)
  • Moderate stress
  • Prolonged sitting
  • Prolonged work on a PC/computer

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
