Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

This position is a strategic business partner overseeing and handling various areas of Human Resources management for Health Care Financial Services of TeamHealth and its business units, additionally, will assume responsibility for special projects assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as human resources strategic business partner between TeamHealth and HCFS, answers questions, directs information and provides general human resources information as needed in areas such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, AAP, HIPAA, USERRA, worker’s comp, and other employment law areas.
  • Oversees employment administration for a variety of exempt and non-exempt level staff within respective client areas including recruiting; temporary staff placement; applicant documentation maintenance and screening; initial and pre-screening interviews; completing reference and employment checks; facilitating employment offers/agreements, rejection notices and new hire paperwork; develops and maintains job descriptions for respective client areas.
  • Ensures that the employment practices of Team Health and its affiliates meet state and federal guidelines for employment law ensuring that Team Health and its affiliates are equal opportunity employers. Tracks pertinent employment information to facilitate the timely filing of appropriate EEOC reports and providing pertinent data as needed.
  • Oversee and participates in new employee orientation (handbook, benefits and compliance training) for new employees hired by Team Health at its affiliates.
  • Oversees employee evaluations to be given to managers and supervisors on a timely and accurate basis for respective client areas. Partners with leadership on succession planning and to provide expertise in assessing and reaching desired level of overall performance in alignment with corporate philosophy and strategy.
  • Coordinates various training and development projects for respective client area, which may include coordinating, developing, and monitoring training plans/materials; as well as exploring internal and external resources for training to ensure appropriate orientation and acclimation to Team Health and the position.
  • Consults with Benefits Department and Team Health employees regarding benefit questions/changes, worker’s compensation, COBRA, ERISA, etc. Ensures that employee understands his/her benefit options and the automated enrollment process.
  • Conducts employee counseling/discipline as needed. This includes providing valuable coaching/counseling to supervisors and managers in order to resolve and/or manage employee issues.
  • Coordinates the termination process to ensure employees are treated fairly. Prepares paperwork for termination process. Conducts exit interviews on employees leaving the company as needed. Ensures that all appropriate, legally required information is given to terminated employees promptly and accurately.
  • Acts as human resources liaison between Team Health and its divisions. Answers questions, directs information and provides general human resources information as needed.
  • Stays current on Human Resources laws and practices and recommends changes as needed (includes posting appropriate posters on labor laws, Family Medical Leave Act, etc.).
  • Participates in human resources professional organizations.
  • Identifies, recommends and assumes responsibility for special projects as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S./B.A. degree in business, communications, human resources or related field;
  • Five or more years of experience in multiple Human Resources related functions;
  • Previous management experience and PHR/SHPR certification preferred,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal/written);
  • Excellent computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database management, HRIS)
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;
  • Ability to adapt to rapid change;
  • Ability to handle stress and conflict well;
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision;
