JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

This Project Manager manages multiple high-priority projects for the Chief Medical Informatics Officer. This position is responsible for all aspects of the project life-cycle. (i.e. Initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and closing).  This position is also responsible for identifying, analyzing, and recommending implementation strategies to define and adopt best work practices and processes across the organization. 

The individual must be highly energetic, solution driven and flexible in his/her interpersonal style.  Outstanding communications skills in both written and verbal expression are required.  The individual should be a self-starter, persistent, adept in creating and maintaining actions plans to support new and developing requirements.

The individual should be proficient in documenting “current state” and “future state” operational workflows and data flows to ensure that project plans and operational workflows incorporate all key tasks and have appropriate monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under limited supervision, manages multiple projects and ongoing operational responsibilities while monitoring, summarizing, communicating, and reporting status.
  • Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Develops all aspects of projects, including a detail project plan and schedule.  Responsible for assembling project team, identifying appropriate resources, assigning responsibilities, facilitating team and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques in order to keep the project plan accurate and updated with authorized project changes.
  • Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Record detailed customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders in order to establish the project deliverables, using requirement-gathering techniques (e.g., planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups) and the project charter. 
  • Acts as a strong leader/facilitator in the development and implementation of work processes with current business units for identifying, sharing, and making recommendations to create and institutionalize operational best practices across the organization.  Includes follow-up and tracking procedures to ensure best practices are implemented. Reverse engineers existing processes and establishes new processes based on best practices.
  • Identifies possible project and process issues and develops plans for solutions.
  • Develops and contributes ideas and opinions about strategic issues for consideration by senior management.  This includes collecting relevant data, analyzing data, and developing presentations to present to senior management.
  • Gains understanding of TeamHealth proprietary and enterprise systems.  Aids in the enhancement of current systems and implementation of new systems for company.  This may include end-user requirements gathering, system testing, documentation and deployment.
  • Handles other duties, meetings and projects as assigned by management

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Management, or other relevant field of study or equivalent professional experience.  MHA or MBA preferred, but not required;
  • three to five years of project management experience preferred; PMP certification preferred; Willingness to receive project management training and sit for PMP certification required;
  • One to three years of business analysis experience desired;
  • One to Three years of experience in group facilitation, work process analysis, and change management;
  • Health experience preferred but not required;
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)
  • Proficient in project management and diagramming applications.  Superior communication skills – verbal, written, presentation and negotiation, particularly the ability to describe complex processes through easy to understand diagrams.
  • Strategic thinking, breakthrough thinking and creative problem solving skills, showing an ability to overcome obstacles;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills;
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and technical skills.
  • Patience and ability to excel under pressure, handling multiple requests often with tight deadlines;
  • Resourcefulness, ingenuity, strong decision making and problem solving skills;
  • Leadership, teamwork and the ability to develop others.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Job performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting;
  • Occasional lifting/carrying (10 pounds or less);
  • Prolonged sitting; with prolonged work in a computer/PC;
  • Occasional work in evenings and on weekends;
  • Occasional to moderate travel depending on current work assignment.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
