JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Network Engineer is a part of a dynamic network team that designs, tests, deploys, monitors, and supports network security, routing, switching, remote access, and more.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team member supporting TeamHealth’s dynamic nationwide network
  • Collaborate to design, test, document, deploy, monitor, and support network security, routing, switching, remote access, VPN and more to optimize LAN and WAN performance in a complex network environment.
  • Solid working knowledge with Cisco network hardware and software – ACI, ASA, Nexus, routers, switches, Prime, ISE, AnyConnect
  • A solid foundational understanding of TCP/IP and networks including VPN’s.
  • Familiarity with network tools - MobileIron, Microsoft, Pulse Secure, F5, Palo Alto, PRTG, DHCP, DNS, NTP, Solarwinds, Wireshark, Python, PERL,
  • Management, troubleshooting, and documentation of data circuits
  • Troubleshoot network issues including coordinating the initial workflow and incident response with various teams and support groups
  • Produce network utilization reports with key performance indicators
  • Effectively identify, communicate, and remediate risks to the network environment
  • Ensure continuous network availability including disaster recovery and business continuity
  • The position requires afterhours work and on-call duties
  • Able to work independently and creatively problem solve complex technical problems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Moderate travel is required (approx. 20%)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with some work in server room environment
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal network contacts; participating in professional organizations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/AS in software engineering, Computer Science, information systems, or related field or equivalent experience with a diverse Cisco network
  • 4 years of experience with Cisco network management
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and documentation skills 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Duties are performed in a modern office setting.
  • May require some occasional work in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Prolonged sitting, with prolonged work on a PC.
  • Carries a pager and serves as part of the on-call rotation.  
  • May require some light travel.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
