POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Eligibility Department is responsible to conduct eligibility verification on selected financial classes using a variety of methods including websites, phone calls or other methods. This department updates the billing system with accurate billing information and files claims.

The Eligibility Supervisor plans, organizes, directs, monitors, and supervises the daily workflow of the SBC Eligibility Department. The Supervisor oversees the daily workflow and ensures the department meets or exceeds standards for quality, production, and performance. The Supervisor ensures employees are trained, and consistently follow all TEAMHealth policies and procedures including applicable HIPAA and Compliance Policies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises the day to day activities of the Department staff. Plans, monitors and assigns work according to workload, month-end schedules and individual skills and abilities for most efficient operation.
  2. Monitors and analyzes applicable reports for unusual patterns and/or issues and makes recommendations to the Manager to improve processes.
  3. Works closely with the Registration Supervisor/Manager to ensure correct insurance addresses are utilized.
  4. Evaluates carrier requirements and formulates an eligibility response strategy.
  5. Recruits, interviews and recommends candidates to fill staff vacancies. Recommends approvals for promotion, salary changes, PTO, leaves of absence and personnel changes within the department.
  6. Oversees the staff to ensure production and quality standards are met. Maintains discipline for the Department staff in accordance with established policies and initiates Disciplinary Actions when necessary.
  7. The staff are provided training pertinent to their job. Monitors the training process and approves their release to regular production.
  8. Informs the Manager when obvious inappropriate activities are occurring in the Department.
  9. Responsible for completing annual performance evaluations, Special Projects and other Corporate Initiatives.
  10. Understands TEAMHealth compliance plan and HIPAA regulations.  Informs appropriate Manager(s), Director(s), VP(s), or Corporate Management when obvious inappropriate business practices are evident that may affect our company.  This includes any noted compliance or HIPAA concerns

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Creates and maintains policies consistent with HCFS and TEAMHealth policies, and communicates and implements them in the Department.
  2. Assists with research and development of appropriate eligibility procedures.
  3. Run daily, weekly and monthly reports to assist identifying potential carrier or other departmental issues.
  4. Work with various Department Managers and Supervisors to expedite processing of registration, eligibility, claims, and appeals to minimize Days in Accounts Receivable for the Billing Center.
  5. Regular and reliable attendance is necessary.
  6. Supervises overtime as directed by Management.
  7. Other duties as assigned by Management.

 

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Skills 

  1. Excellent knowledge of Physician Billing policies and procedures across multiple states is helpful.  
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Excellent team management skills.
  4. Excellent analytical skills.
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook, Power Point.
  6. Proficiency in working with systems (GE Centricity experience is desirable).
  7. Excellent follow-up skills.
  8. Excellent organizational skills.

Education & Experience

  1. Minimum High School diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Minimum of 2 years of previous Physician Billing, Registration and/or insurance eligibility verification required.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory/lead experience.  

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Set in a pleasant, high-volume, fast-paced office environment.
