Job Description


This position is responsible for providing functional and managerial support to the Accounting Department, and reports to the VP of Finance.


  • Provides functional and managerial support to the Regional Accounting department
  • Oversee month-end process to include: journal entries, variance analysis, resolving financial issues, review of financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Participate in monthly Operational Finance calls with VP of Operations and Senior Accountants to discuss financial and operational data by facility
  • Reviews monthly financials prepared by senior and staff accountants
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis reports on budget vs actual results
  • Reviews journal entries prepared by senior and staff accountants
  • Process and review accounts payable
  • Supports physician compensation processing as required
  • Prepares/reviews consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assists in preparation of Monthly Operating Reports (MOR) package
  • Supervises senior and staff accountants
  • Interacts with Finance and Provider Compensation colleagues regarding general ledger and financial statement issues
  • Analyzes various financial reports and performance measures looking for trends and outliers
  • Prepares/reviews contract pro formas
  • Preparation of annual budgets in collaboration with Finance and Operation teams
  • Prepares, reviews and/or loads data into planning system to support projection and budget cycles
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned


Job Requirements


  • S./B.A. in Accounting/Finance, or related field, Masters preferred; CPA preferred but not required
  • Five (5) years of related accounting (healthcare) experience preferred
  • Three (3) years managerial experience preferred
  • Strong general ledger and monthly closing experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (ability to create and work with pivot tables, write formulas, chart customization, v-lookups, etc.)
  • Experience with Hyperion, Essbase or other planning/reporting software preferred
  • Exposure to contracts
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and technical skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail when following set instructions and reviewing reports for accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written)
  • Ability to work well with others, and work with minimal direction/supervision
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, prioritize work; handle stress and conflict
  • Resourcefulness, ingenuity, strong decision making and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact and ability to handle confidential and personal information with discretion
