Anesthesia Coding Trainer

Overview
The Coding Trainer is responsible for overseeing all training and education for the Coding department staff. Ensures all coders are familiar with TeamHealth coding criteria as defined in the Coding Policies and Procedures manual, corporate policies, and Billing Center policies.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities
  • Train all new employees in accordance with the departmental 12-week training program
  • Responsible for the one-on-one review of the policies and procedure manual for all new hires. Will do the initial introduction for all new employees
  • Prepare individual written report for each audit to the manager identifying and communicating potential quality issues
  • Complete Level 1 and 2 QA reviews with Coders
  • Evaluate errors for areas needing further education and improvement
  • Assist with Monthly Education meetings with coding staff
  • Communicate training and QA results with Management
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
Qualifications / Experience
  • Proficiency in ICD-10 diagnostic coding and CPT-4 procedural coding specific to Anesthesia and Pain Management Coding
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and physician billing and reimbursement
  • Effective organizational, analytical, and communication skills at all levels
  • Minimum High School Diploma with preferred college level education, experience in physician coding and billing related field
  • CPC, CANPC or CCS-p certification or equivalent is preferred
  • 1 – 2 years in a work leader or supervisory position
  • 2 – 4 years of previous Anesthesia Medical coding experience
