Job Description


The Sr Data Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of technical solutions. This role leverages technical expertise in database applications, ETL processes, and automation in support of internal and external customers data exchange and integration needs.

The Sr Data Engineer will use smart technology to empower TeamHealth stakeholders enterprise-wide to make the best decisions based on timely, accurate and actionable information. Must enjoy working with SQL and Big Data Technologies. The Sr Data Engineer will have the chance to work with the best data and massively parallel processing databases to speed analyses, with broad exposure to the workings of TeamHealth and critical thinking to tackle complex challenges. When other teams need to know about providers, productivity, performance, or other data insights, they count on our Data & Analytics team.


  • Develop ETL processes for data warehousing, data integration and data analytics
  • Designing and developing enterprise-wide ETL solutions for BI reporting
  • Reviewing and analyzing data from multiple internal and external sources
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and innovative approaches to completing scope of work
  • Defining relevant ETL standards, processes, and best practices
  • Designing, developing and maintaining ETL solutions
  • Participate in team problem solving efforts and offer ideas to solve client issues
  • Effectively communicate with business and technology partners, peers and stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver results under demanding timelines to real-world business problems
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively



Job Requirements

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • 6+ years as an ETL/SQL developer with strong analytical skills
  • Strong SQL skills with ability to write complex queries, CTEs (Common Table Expressions), stored procedures and functions
  • Deep understanding of database concepts
  • Knowledge in data warehouse and data modelling concepts
  • Strong experience with ETL development, preferably SSIS (Sql server integration services)
  • Ability to create transformations and mappings with minimal supervision
  • Experience in scheduling SSIS batch jobs using SQL server Agent
  • Experience with integration services catalog and package configuration
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues in ETL jobs and reports
  • Ability to handle unstructured datasets
  • Strong experience in data cleansing ETL performance tuning
  • Experience with automation and deployment of ETLs
  • Knowledge in using SDKs and APIs in Script tasks
  • Knowledge in SQL performance tuning
  • Adept in metadata management and data lineage
  • Good understanding of the SDLC processes and practices
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Data governance/standards for heterogeneous data sources integration/conversion

Good to have:

  • Knowledge in designing data warehouse and ETL frameworks
  • Experience in upgrade management in SQL server
  • Experience in reporting tools like MicroStrategy and/or Tableau
