Job Description

The position of a TeamHealth Scheduler has the responsibility for scheduling support with leadership in hospitalist medicine. This includes coordinating with facility medical directors and assisting with scheduling needs for the associated facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Communicates with the Medical Directors of designated hospitals to ensure the preparation of Physician/MLP schedules. This may involve calling physicians to commit to uncovered shifts after the schedule has been prepared. In addition, this includes coordination and preparation of schedules for hospitals where no Medical Director is presiding
  • Communicates with all credentialed Physicians/MLPs at each facility to ensure that all shifts are covered, including coverage for all unforeseen emergencies and schedule deficiencies in monthly packets
  • Completes and distributes scheduling packets to Physicians, MLPs, partners and internal departments, facilities and directors
  • Maintains and updates relevant Physician/MLP information, such as telephone and pager numbers and addresses, to ensure that schedule packets are accurate and timely. This includes notifying the appropriate persons and departments of any changes to said information.
  • Enters scheduling data into TeamWorks, including any changes or corrections to the schedule as deemed necessary. Alternates on-call responsibilities with other members of the Scheduling department. This includes a 24-hour on-call period that is scheduled regularly.
  • Communicates effectively as needed with the team and other members of Physician Services
  • Completes all other tasks and assignments as delegated by the VPO

 

 

  • Reports bonus information promptly to Contracts/Physician Payroll

  • Participates in an integrated work team as a responsible team member.

  • Assists in the facilitation of the team process at Team Health by serving as an active member of Team Southeast. This includes attending all team related meetings; participating in developing and implementing center wide and team goals; participating in problem-solving and decision making; supporting corporate and center management decisions; being flexible and adaptable to change; establishing trust and respect for other team members; placing team needs first; and by completing all necessary training.

  • Follows the norms and guidelines established by the team for communication, production, efficiency, conflict resolution, decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal relations.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE: 

  • Two (2) or more years of college or equivalent education;
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience, preferably in a medical setting working closely with physicians;
  • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Good computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database management;
  • Ability to work well with deadlines and stressful situations;
  • Ability to think creatively within a short time-frame;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule;
  • Ability to adapt to change; and
  • Ability to work in a team setting.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Job performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting;
  • Occasional lifting/carrying (10 pounds or less);
  • Occasional standing/bending;
  • Prolonged sitting;
  • Prolonged hours of work (evening, weekends, required on-call coverage);
  • Prolonged work in a computer/PC;
  • Prolonged telephone usage;
  • Moderate to high stress levels; and
  • Light to moderate travel.

 

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax), and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
