Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

 This position is responsible for scheduling all Physicians/Mid-Level Practitioners in the emergency department. This includes obtaining scheduling dates from physicians/MLPs and assisting the physicians in solving their scheduling problems. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Communicates with the Medical Directors of designated hospitals to ensure the preparation of Physician/MLP schedules for their respective emergency departments. This may involve calling physicians to commit to uncovered shifts after the schedule has been prepared. In addition, this includes coordination and preparation of schedules for hospitals where no Medical Director is presiding
  • Communicates with all credentialed Physicians/MLPs at each facility to ensure that all shifts are covered, including coverage for all unforeseen emergencies and schedule deficiencies in monthly packets
  • Completes and distributes scheduling packets to Physicians, MLPs, partners and internal departments, facilities and directors
  • Maintains and updates relevant Physician/MLP information, such as telephone and pager numbers and addresses, to ensure that schedule packets are accurate and timely. This includes notifying the appropriate persons and departments of any changes to said information.
  • Enters scheduling data into TeamWorks, including any changes or corrections to the schedule as deemed necessary. Alternates on-call responsibilities with other members of the Scheduling department. This includes a 24-hour on-call period that is scheduled regularly.
  • Communicates effectively as needed with the team and other members of Physician Services
  • Completes all other tasks and assignments as delegated by the VPO
  • Reports bonus information promptly to Contracts/Physician Payroll

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High school graduate
  • One (1) to Three (3) years experience in sales or customer service
  • Experience in medical field a plus
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Good telecommunication and computer skills (word-processing and spreadsheet)
  • Detail oriented
