Job Description


This position works directly with Quality Payment Program (QPP) Operations to define, implement, and execute processes and business requirements related to the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), in support of Registry Operations. Primary responsibilities include working with field leaders, management team, and staff members to coordinate and/or manage various operational initiatives, compile & analyze data, create reports & presentations, identify trends, and recommend strategies for various projects & operations across the team. The Operations Analyst needs to be able to understand the business challenges of the healthcare industry and the impact of the changing landscape of quality reporting to Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS).


  • Support Quality Payment Program Management, and staff members in the coordination and management of various operational activities related to program and/or National Healthcare Quality Institute (NHQI) Registry processes
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of Data Validation and Audit processes necessary to support successful Registry reporting and submission of MIPS clinical data to CMS
  • Manage and Review Clinician documentation/patient records
  • Conduct detailed audit, data validation, and analysis of Clinician records to identify errors, problems, or issues, and provide recommendations for correction, using coding best practices
  • Identify coding trends across multiple service lines and escalate issues accordingly; help ensure that potential clinical educational opportunities may be identified and developed to help improve quality outcomes
  • Plan, execute, and monitor progress, as well as coordinate meetings and setup, for the various initiatives assigned
  • Prepare meeting agendas, materials, and minutes for multiple projects, as well as follows up on meeting action items
  • Organize documents, reports, and maintain version control
  • Work collaboratively with leaders and staff to research, diagnose, and develop recommendations to resolve organizational issues related to audits and reporting to enhance current and anticipated work processes as needed
  • Generate Registry action reports and monitor Registry KPIs
  • Work with program operational team to ensure proper use of data for MIPS reporting
  • Compile data from various sources; clean and format data into meaningful reports; update reports as needed
  • Analyze Registry or program operational metrics and identify issues/corrections necessary
  • Contribute ideas and opinions about strategic issues for consideration to QPP management by collecting and analyzing relevant data
  • Communicate proactively to analyze information needs
  • Utilize various data management, business intelligence, and reporting tools and models to assess operational performance of overall program performance
  • Prepare summary findings and report interpretations
  • Provide backup support to MIPS Support and Operational teams, which requires clinician and leader outreach to resolve MIPS inquires and issues
  • Display and communicates data in a clear and concise format
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Finance, Healthcare Operations, or related field
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • CPC / coding experience preferred
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in corporate or operational reporting/data analysis; proven skill accomplishments preparing and communicating models, trend analysis, operational metrics, etc., and making recommendations for leadership
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment focused on meeting organizational goals and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of team members, including executives, managers, clinicians, IT professionals, and subject matter experts
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Technical aptitude accompanied with basic understanding of data flow and processes to control data
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and technical skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, prioritize work, and handle stress/conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; particularly the ability to explain complex data analyses in easy to understand terms
