Position Overview 

The Coding Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and supervision of daily coding activities.

Essential Functions 

  • Schedule and monitor weekly and daily workflows for coders to ensure compliance with month end schedule
  • Monitor completion and submission of daily production reports by each coder and prepare weekly production reports
  • Assist with maintenance of training materials, policy and procedure manuals, reference materials, etc.
  • Assist with interviewing applicants, annual reviews, disciplinary action, etc.
  • Assist with coding and / or correcting charts sent for review
  • Act as technical resource to coders
  • Supervision of employees, including PTO approval, Kronos hours, etc.
  • Review patient complaints

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications / Experience

  • Proficiency in ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnostic coding and CPT procedural coding
  • CPC or RHIT certification strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physician billing and reimbursement, and regulatory requirements
  • Minimum high school diploma, B.S. or B.A. preferred
  • Minimum 2-4 years medical coding experience required, with 1-2 years in a work leader, auditor, or supervisory position
