Job Description

Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant supports the day-to-day clinical and administrative needs of IPC patients and providers, ensuring the efficient delivery of patient care. The position works in a cooperative team environment to provide value to customers (internal and external). The Medical Assistant carries out his/her duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of IPC and fully supports IPC’s focus on supporting its physicians while following policies and procedures.


  • Accompanies our Physicians or Physician Assistants on daily rounds at a number of different independent and assisted living facilities.
  • Transports medical charts to and from the office and facilities as well as other medical supplies needed to function in the field.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs, performs and processes blood draws, faxes orders to mobile diagnostic companies, orders outside testing such as x-rays, ultrasounds, and Dopplers, files and any other duties involved with processing patients.
  • Supports the Physicians and Physician Assistants and ensures they are prepared and ready to see the next patient and that they have the appropriate clinical information needed for the visit.
  • Provides back up assist to the office Medical Assistants as needed.
  • Complies with HIPAA and company policy by managing sensitive and confidential matters such as patient information and protecting the security of information, data, and files.

  • Manages census data in Post-Acute facilities; obtain monthly census reports from facilities and conduct monthly census audits
  • Act as the point of contact in the facilities; interact with ADM, ED, DON, ADON, Admissions Director, MDS, SW, CL, etc.
  • Follow up on missing face sheet requests
  • Perform special assignments and other related tasks as assigned.


Job Requirements


  • 1+ years’ experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment focused on meeting organization goals and objectives is necessary.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Experience with providing visible participation and support of major change initiatives preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic math and the ability to perform math functions in units of American currency.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to review documents for accuracy and reasonability.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Tact and patience when dealing with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the company.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, in person and on the telephone, and in writing, with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the company.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and follow through without direct supervision.
  • Ability to type efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to operate a computer (i.e., Microsoft Office and internet) efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to operate various office machines (i.e., fax, copier).
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and be flexible in problem solving environment.
