Job Description


The Locums Sourcing Specialist’s primary responsibility is to provide assistance to Locums agencies to facilitate the selection of new candidates for critical open positions. The Locums Sourcing Specialist assists with the onboarding process and the maintenance of the Locums providers. This position maintains key relationships to ensure fulfillment of all provider openings.


  • Maintains relationships with Locums agencies while maintaining the integrity of the tiered vendor plan
  • Maintains familiarity with staffing locums for a single service line with potential cross training into multiple.
  • Communicates weekly updates to all agencies of open locum opportunities
  • Clears names of presented candidates for external agencies within 48 hours
  • Opens and closes opportunities in TeamWorks
  • Submits all locum presentations within 24 hours to VPO, RMD, FMD and Manager of Locum Optimization
  • Communicates with Clinical Onboarding Liaison for external and D&Y Recruiting Manager for internal acceptance of locum clinician
  • Negotiates with agencies on rates within predetermined thresholds and escalates “out of threshold” rates to Manager of Locum Optimization for approval
  • Coordinates an instructional email with expectations for agency / provider upon leadership approval of locum clinician
  • Coordinates clinical screening / interview with agency for locum clinician (if applicable) and required leadership in a timely manner; provides feedback to agency within 72 hours
  • Initiates the request for completion of the TeamHealth Questionnaire to agency upon leadership approval and follows up on return within 72 hours
  • COL notifies LSS if THQ not received within 4 day escalates issues to AM prior to withdrawing locum clinician
  • Assists with onboarding of Locum clinician.
  • Ensuring continuous two-way communication with the Locums Onboarding Liaison and agencies to ensure smooth and timely hand-offs and onboarding
  • Serves as a liaison between clinical facility leadership and Locum agency
  • Notifies contracting to initiate the CAR process upon signed confirmation
  • Logs locum withdrawals in TW to maintain integrity of database and communicates to AM if there is a withdrawal
  • Initiate CAR terminations for withdrawals to Contracting to maintain integrity of database
  • Facilitates annual compliance training with agencies for existing external locums
  • Performs special projects and other duties as needed that may be assigned by management.


Job Requirements


  • College degree preferred and/or 3-years of experience using critical thinking and independent decision making; Uses proper judgment
  • Project management certification or experience a plus
  • 1+ years of experience within a healthcare or health well-being setting is preferred
  • Possesses excellent communication skills and listening skills, and is extremely comfortable expressing ideas and representing the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in various computer applications, e. word processing, spreadsheet, e- mail, database management and presentation software
  • Familiarity with technology and able to adapt to changes within technological updates, e. office equipment, cell phone use and software changes
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to handle confidential data
  • Ability to adapt to change and redirect stressful situations
  • Ability to motivate people and teams to produce a positive outcome
  • Process improvement experience a plus
  • Analytical skills
