Job Description


This position is responsible for processing, coordinating, managing, and supporting litigation and the reporting of litigation for the Company, assisting the Legal Department in its litigation organization, providing executive administrative support and performing special projects for the General Counsel, as needed.


  • Receives, logs, processes, distributes and follows up on all legal service of process that comes in through the Company’s CSC national registered agent. Sets up and maintains litigation files for each material litigation matter involving the Company and its subsidiaries organizing litigation matters. Under the guidance of an attorney, analyzes and summarizes incoming litigation, investigating and preparing a chronology of facts.
  • Prepares, distributes, enforces and releases formal litigation holds to the Company and its employees in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures for Record Retention and Destruction.
  • Acts as liaison among various internal divisions and outside counsel. Under the guidance of an attorney, oversees the progress of outside counsel on litigation matters, and fulfills requests from outside counsel, responds to subpoenas, requests for documents and interrogatories from outside counsel, (including assisting with corporate defenses in PLI cases) and works with appropriate internal counsel on such responses.
  • Responsible for administrating our electronic legal invoicing system, which includes the setup of new law firms and matters to ensure the system’s ability to provide reporting on outside counsel spend.
  • Prepares, manages and updates monthly and quarterly reports on pending litigation for management.
  • Stays current on pertinent legal developments in healthcare and medical malpractice litigation, assists in reporting pertinent legal developments and in researching legal issues, as assigned by in-house counsel.
  • Creates and maintains internal claims and litigation databases. Assists counsel in the preparation of corporate deponents and materials for depositions.
  • Assists in assembling materials, compiling data on other monthly reporting on PLI litigation to assist in litigation management issues. Assists in preparation of quarterly reporting to the Board of Directors on Insurance and Claims Reports.
  • Provides contracting support under the guidance of in-house counsel, as requested
  • Provides executive assistant level support including managing calendars, meetings, travel, correspondence, etc. for key executives within the Legal Department.
  • Performs special projects, as assigned from time to time by TeamHealth’s General Counsel or Legal Executive team.


Job Requirements


  • S./B.A. degree in Legal studies, Business, Political Science or similar field;
  • Minimum of three (3) years legal experience or paralegal background and high volume litigation practice
  • Excellent process and organizational skills;
  • Outstanding computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and database management);
  • Ability to extract data, analyze data and provide appropriate summaries;
  • Ability to maintain confidential information;

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. This position may require the ability to work additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
