Job Requirements of LPN- Medical Clinic of Alamo:
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:- Associates Degree preferred, High School diploma from an accredited institution required
- Current state LPN/LVN licensure
- Medical Office experience preferred
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Current BLS/PALS certification required
- Ability to perform patient intake and document problems appropriately
- Ability to identify critical illness and act accordingly
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- High degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills to provide emotional support
- Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to be flexible
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently yet in conjunction with a team.
- Ability to adapt to a changing and growing atmosphere.
- Ability to speak in a group setting.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. - Courteous and professional demeanor.
- Willingness to work as a team player to meet common goals of the facility.
- Ability to work calmly in high volume practice and meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:
The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting the Medical Provider in providing quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents practice by displaying a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families. Independently problem solves and utilizes resources to obtain patient information when patient is unable to communicate, Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Obtains vital signs, weight, chief complaint and patient history, Assists in procedures under the direction of the clinician.
- Documents all assessments, actions, care and treatment responses, and communications in patient record in EMR
- Administers injections and PO medications as ordered by clinician accurately, safely, and properly documents in patient record in EMR, logs, and requisitions.
- Performs labs on patient samples and lab controls according to protocol.
- Performs venipuncture to provide optimal blood sampling while practicing good technique and universal precautions to assure maximum safety and comfort.
- Maintains current working knowledge of all instruments, procedures, and techniques for all above services.
- Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer service, infection control, and safety guidelines and other policies as set forth.
- Interacts calmly, respectfully and in a friendly manner with other staff. Refers patients to proper resources including transfer, follow up and appointments as necessary, as directed by a clinician.
- Participate in development and implementation of general policies and procedures to provide for the physical and emotional comfort and safety of patients. Maintains competence through continuing education and in-service training.
- Ensures cleanliness of clinical area while on duty.
