Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Cross Coverage Representative is as an assigned floating representative for the Front-End Patient Registration and Clerical Support departments and assists in data compiling for production management reporting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include any or all of the following:

  1. Enter and/or update patient demographic data and insurance information in GE/IDX.
  2. Analyze registration, patient statement and claim error/edit messages, identify probable causes or trends, and make necessary corrections or recommendations as required.
  3. Assist in the process of medical chart registration and payment documentation (EOBs or Remittance Advises) onsite and offsite retrieval.
  4. Assist in the preparation of filing and mailing insurance claim forms to appropriate carriers.
  5. Create and manage queries from GE/IDX and DMS.
  6. Create and document processes and procedures for Front-End departments.
  7. Review and update Front-End department policies.
  8. Assist in research, obtaining and responding to medical record audit requests (internal and external). Document in Audit Tracking System. Overall maintenance of the BC audit library.
  9. Work in OnBase as required (workflow and reporting).
  10. Analyze and troubleshoot OnBase chart flow issues for Front-End departments using critical thinking and problem solving skills
  11. Represent department in testing and training for GE/IDX, OnBase, and VBX electronic demographic registration as needed.
  12. Assist department representatives with questions, problems and or workflow.
  13. Work with Front-End production departments.
  14. Contact insurance carriers regarding claim mailing requirements and authorizations.
  15. Collaboratively works with department management and employees to research, diagnose, and develop recommendations to resolve organizational problems and enhance current and anticipated work processes as needed.
  16. Evaluate and coordinate production workloads.
  17. Compiles data from various sources; cleans and formats data into meaningful reports; updates and distributes reports as needed.
  18. Analyzes various reports and performance measures looking for trends and outliers.
  19. Correct ETM invoices and post appropriate action in the Enterprise Task Manager system (ETM).
  20. Complies with all department and company policies and procedures.  

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Report problems and issues to assigned department Senior, Supervisor or Front-End Production Manager.
  2. Assist with special projects.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Skills

  1. Good written and verbal skills.
  2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel)
  3. Detail-oriented.
  4. Good oral and written communication skills.
  5. Computer literate.
  6. Able to work in fast paced environment.
  7. Able to multi task.
  8. Good organizational skills.
  9. Good analytical, problem-solving skills.
  10. Knowledge of GE/IDX, OnBase, VBX, DMS, and MRTS systems preferred.
  11. General knowledge of query functionality preferred.
  12. Able to perform duties independently without direct supervision.

Education

Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience

One to two years of previous patient and insurance registration and/or medical record processing required. Training in medical terminology, billing, and insurance guidelines is preferred. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. General office environment.
  2. Personnel are expected to be respectful and courteous to each other and display an attitude of cooperation and teamwork.
  3. The production nature of the department requires periodic mandatory overtime.
  4. Requires constant sitting tolerance and constant keyboard work and phone calls.
  5. Ability to meet closing deadlines and production standards is required.
  6. Involves extensive computer use.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
