Job Description


The Fitness Specialist is responsible for providing specialized wellness expertise at the Akron Billing Center gym. The position includes health promotion, teaching group exercise classes, personal training, wellness data entry and adapting our wellness programming. This is a temporary part-time role, lasting approximately from February 2019 – June 2019. This position requires approximately 30 hours per week, with a schedule as follows: Monday – Thursday 11-5, Friday: flexible hours.


  • Teaches group fitness classes and personal training.
  • Assists with wellness challenges and health promotion campaigns.
  • Serves as an onsite LiveWell resource
  • Assists with LiveWell community events and races.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Serves as integral Wellness team member.
  • Maintains HIPAA confidentiality related to Wellness, Human Resources and TeamHealth.

Job Requirements


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Nursing or related field
  • One (1) - two (2) years of experience personal training or teaching group fitness classes
  • Excellent computer skills (word-processing, spreadsheet, database management);
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Good communications skills (verbal/written);
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Ability to work with minimal direction/supervision;
  • Ability to attend to detail;
  • Ability to handle stress and conflict well; and
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
