THIS POSITION OFFERS REMOTE POSSIBILITIES

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Dir Telehealth Risk and Compliance will maintain oversight on a national level of the regulatory environment related to Advanced Practice Clinician utilization and supervisory requirements; federal and state government and regulatory guidelines on telehealth usage and reimbursement criteria through CMS as well as the monitoring and collaboration of managed care reimbursement regulations in conjunction with legal counsel.  This leader will collaborate and serve as a liaison with legal, managed care, HCFS, government affairs, malpractice coverage and compliance to ensure the success of the telehealth service line across all 50 states while minimizing financial risk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Understand the APC Supervision guidelines by state along with the specific scope of practice regulations and provide recommendations and guidelines to facilitate business decisions related to telehealth services.
  2. Advise the service line leaders with input from legal counsel on regulatory compliance, reimbursement, professional liability coverage and policy issues related to the use of telehealth and virtual care services.
  3. Monitor updates related to compliance with state and federal laws affecting the provision of telehealth services including issues related to the practice of medicine/scope of practice, licensure, on-line prescribing including DEA guidelines, reimbursement (public and private payors), privacy and security and risk management.
  4. Review and update leaders on the expanding role telehealth holds in the market and its direction into future use cases within the healthcare delivery system through modalities such as synchronous care, asynchronous care and remote patient monitoring.
  5. Assess state licensure requirements and their impact on telehealth services – where the patients are located and where the clinician is practicing and licensed. Review state guidelines related to establishing a physician-patient relationship for new and existing patients, in conjunction with legal counsel.
  6. In partnership with legal counsel, assess the criticality of factors related to liability: telehealth informed consent; practice standards and protocols; establishing patient-physician relationship; international telehealth
  7. Ensure collaboration with all key stakeholders to assess compliance and risk in a rapidly changing landscape.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience on a national scale;
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience, preferably within the clinical regulatory space - including three (3) years of managerial experience (prefer healthcare);
  • Legal background preferred (paralegal, attorney)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in partnership with clinical partners
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and issue recommendations
  • Exceptional relationship skills and ability to work across multiple functions including legal, compliance, healthcare financial services
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with deadlines and to influence change
  • Self-motivated, driven and able to bring solutions forward

  • Telehealth Compliance and Risk employees 

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Job performed in modern office setting;
  • Occasional Travel up 30%
  • Occasional lifting (10 pounds or less);

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
