JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Director, Operations – CMIO is the program owner responsible for understanding and executing operational business requirements for select CMIO projects and programs. The individual will liaison with business leaders, establish business requirements, develop and own projects and programs from conception to completion in order to achieve business success.

The Director, Operations – CMIO is skilled at obtaining underlying business operations requirements, mapping and development of data and operational workflows, defining project requirements and plans, obtaining resourcing approval, and running selected projects and programs within the CMIO portfolio as the business owner. This individual will be the sponsor, owner, and empowered decision maker for selected projects within the CMIO portfolio.

Portfolio programs will include TeamHealth’s participation in the Bundled Payments for Care Initiative – Advanced (BPCI-Advanced) program; coordination, planning and management of Tax Identification (Tax ID) structures for clinical entities; and additional TeamHealth value based programs. Projects will be focused on supporting informatics requirements that impact cross-functional clinical and business operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for assigned projects and programs within the CMIO portfolio as the operational business owner;
  • Directly manage a subset of the CMIO project and program portfolio as the project owner, and assist other managers as needed using project management best practices;
  • Contribute ideas and opinions about strategic issues for consideration by collecting and analyzing data, assisting in developing presentations, and drafting project and program recommendations;
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop optimal project portfolio plans including project prioritization, obtain resource commitments for projects, and sequencing and leading planning activities;
  • Communicate plans, issues and responsibilities clearly and concisely to project team members, functional managers, sponsors and other project stakeholders;
  • Achieve and maintain a working knowledge of key applications used by TeamHealth and the processes they support. Maintain close relationships with experts in the use of each application and/or process so as to facilitate efficient decision making regarding each application;
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, financial forecasting and status reporting.

 

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development or Management, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required;
  • Master’s degree in a similar field with quantitative focus is preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ recent experience in management involving projects crossing multiple business functions and experience with a broad range of project types is necessary; ten (10) years is preferred. Experience with implementation of IT applications and solutions is preferred. Experience as a business analyst, or leading business analysts, is preferred.
  • Healthcare operations management experience is preferred.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing operational programs that require analytic skills and information based decision making.
  • Formal project management training is preferred.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written), particularly the ability to bridge communications between technical and non-technical communities;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work with minimal direction/supervision;
  • Ability to lead teams of individuals with differing skills;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills accompanied by flexibility to quickly adapt;
  • Experience in group facilitation, work process analysis, and change management;
  • Technical aptitude with databases, including understanding of logical and physical structures;
  • Extensive knowledge and work experience using various software applications (specifically Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, Visio, and collaborative technologies);
  • Experience in project accounting and budgeting a plus;
  • Ability to handle stress and conflict.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise project managers and other assigned resources to accomplish program tasks.

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Job performed in a well-lit, modern office setting
  • Occasional lifting/carrying (10 pounds or less)
  • Occasional bending/stooping/reaching/pulling
  • Prolonged sitting; and work on a computer
  • Moderate stress 
  • This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
