This position is located in Knoxville, TN



The Director of Data Architecture will be responsible for managing the Business Intelligence technology platforms, universal dimensions, and associated team and will play an important role in the continued growth and success of TeamHealth.  This  role leads and develops a team of engineers and team leads, and therefore communication and a history of leadership will be key. The Company is transforming into a data driven and enabled organization, and the Director of Data Architecture will play a key role in ensuring that the architecture provides the business with the mature data assets and advanced tool capability. The Business Intelligence suite includes both Linux and Windows Operating Systems, Hadoop and Microsoft development platforms, MicroStrategy, Netezza, and an analyst community. 


  • Understand industry trends and emerging technologies in order to evolve the architecture and efficiently propose solutions for key business needs 
  • Collaborate with business partners helping them identify and solve challenges and proactively provide innovative BI solutions to propel the business forward 
  • Ensure principles, best practices, patterns, guidelines, standards for application architecture are consistently applied and evaluated for effectiveness 
  • Provide coaching, development, and leadership to BI engineering team members 
  • Define, implement, and maintain technology roadmaps 
  • Ensure infrastructure and application integrity, optimal performance, and maximum service availability 
  • Identify problems and inefficiencies in the current environment and make recommendations for improvements 
  • Hands-on development to keep skills sharp 
  • Lead a world-class team of analysts and engineers who are passionate about what they do

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence technologies (data warehousing, ETL development, data modeling, and front end BI Tools) 
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to work and influence more senior levels of the organization across functional groups 
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills 
  • Experience with Iterative and Agile Development methodologies 
  • Demonstrated team and resource management experience 
  • You should have an insatiable appetite for learning new things and improving existing ones 
  • You should have great attention to detail and take pride in your work 
  • Healthcare architectures both on premise and cloud
  • VLDBs and APIs for Data Services

  • Manage and develop team of technical leads and data engineers
