Job Description

This position is responsible for daily oversight of the Accounting and Analytics related functions of the Hospital Services Finance Department. Manage multiple resources and projects concurrently to ensure successful completion of accounting and analytic projects. Responsibilities also include ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information generated, maintenance of internal controls and monitoring, developing and ensuring compliance with all appropriate policies and procedures as they relate to accounting and finance and analytics functions. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the SVP, Hospital Services and other members of the Senior Management Team.


  1. Responsible for oversight of accounting and finance functions including day-to-day operations, monitoring and supervision of department staff.
  2. Oversees and participates in preparation of financial and statistical information.
  3. Serve as primary contact on all phases of analytic projects from problem definition through presentation, while appropriately managing expectations.
  4. Creates compelling decks and presentations, which tell the analytic story, demonstrating value by providing actionable insights with recommendations.
  5. Delivers executive-level business case presentations that successfully identifies business requests from the analysis performed.
  6. Monitors and reviews contracts to ensure revenue is properly and accurately accounted for in accordance with contract specifications
  7. Reviews and assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements and monthly financial reports. Participates in monthly financial review.
  8. Ensures the accuracy of and leads development of worksheets or other methods used to generate various financial reports/analysis (which includes performing regular tests of formula accuracy, assumptions, data input sources, etc.) for areas such as:
    1. Physician compensation
    2. Financial analysis/month end financial reporting
    3. Budget preparation and analysis
  9. Assists the SVP, Hospital Services in leading the annual budget process, monthly forecasting, financial reporting, and performs other special projects as requested in a timely manner and delegates tasks as appropriate with adequate review.
  10. Participates in an integrated work team as a responsible team member and regularly participates in team meetings.
  11. Maintains positive relationships with Group leadership team members and staff.
  12. Ensures and maintains the integrity, consistency and accuracy of data and financial reporting, such that Senior Management can rely upon the department output.
  13. Ensures optimum performance, accuracy and efficiency of the department. Presents recommendations for improvement and implements policies and techniques to improve productivity, efficiency and cost savings while optimizing the resources and staff available and delegating tasks/assignments as appropriate to accomplish such goals.
  14. Identifies and presents to the SVP, Hospital Services matters which require a decision on a timely basis and ensures the flow of pertinent information.
  15. Assures the duties, responsibilities and authority of each staff member within the department are clearly defined and effectively communicated.
  16. Monitors performance of direct reports and completes performance appraisals.
  17. Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in the accounting field and corporate requirements and disseminates this information to the finance department to ensure compliance.


Job Requirements


1.     Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.

2.     MBA and or CPA designation preferred.



1.     Minimum of 5 years of accrual accounting and financial reporting experience in a healthcare environment.

2.     Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising an accounting/finance department.



1.     Excellent computer skills, with strong proficiency in spreadsheet applications and computerized accounting packages.   (Microsoft Office, Lawson, Hyperion Essbase, Oracle)
