Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

 

This position is responsible for the daily management of the Credentials Coordinators working in the Southeast region for TeamHealth. This position will report directly to the Director of Scheduling and Credentialing and will oversee the coordination of credentials for designated client hospitals and facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Ensures employees achieve compliance with Credentials Department metrics by adhering to the Credentials process and documenting appropriately in TeamWorks;
  • Escalate questions/concerns raised by employees to direct supervisor;
  • Communicate regularly with facility Medical Staff Offices and assist with obtaining primary source verifications and other required elements in an effort to expedite provider privileges for both initial and reappointment applications;
  • Help facilitate the Advanced Practice Clinician supervisory agreement process in accordance with State regulations.
  • Maintain systems to disseminate hospital privilege status to Facility Medical Directors and other internal TeamHealth departments.
  • Initiates the process for insuring malpractice coverage for all contracted physicians and coordinate the renewal process.
  • Ensure current documentation is on file for all contracted providers and all pertinent documentation is forwarded to the appropriate facility.
  • Monitors effectiveness of processes, identifies areas for improvement, and creatively determines solutions to resolve inefficiencies;
  • Provide feedback on performance to direct supervisor;
  • Work with Director of Scheduling and Credentialing to conduct regular meetings with the staff, provide education, teambuilding, and any necessary coaching;
  • Provide feedback to direct supervisor to successfully complete annual performance reviews;
  • Provide necessary training and coaching to staff depending on need and direction from direct supervisor;
  • Take part in employee hiring processes (selection, validation, and orientation of new staff);
  • Assist Credentials Coordinators with credentialing, completion of files, etc. as needed;
  • Communication of operational issues to senior leadership as necessary.
  • Maintain personal adherence to professional confidentiality standards established within the Department and in accordance with legal, ethical, and hospital policies.
  • Attends workshops and training sessions to stay current of credentialing standards
  • Provides feedback on new client hospital credentialing requirements
  • Perform special projects and other duties as requested or assigned by management.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Two year degree preferred or equivalent previous experience
  • One (1) to three (3) years of prior management experience preferred
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Experience with State and Regulatory agency requirements as it relates to healthcare credentialing guidelines
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
