JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The external Credentials Coordinator is focused on preparing, packaging, and submitting information to the Facility Medical Staff Office (MSO) as well as tracking central verification office/medical staff office (CVO/MSO) processing required to award privileges. The external Credentials Coordinator is responsible for interacting with Clinician Onboarding Liaison to ensure deadlines on the clinician onboarding plan are maintained. This position is responsible for interacting with the clinician to assist with the facility application and the CVO/MSO privileging process. This position serves as a credentialing subject matter expert for the clinician and the onboarding team through the onboarding process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with Clinician Onboarding Liaison
  • Prepares and distributes facility applications to the clinician
  • Facilitates a telephone/Webex walk through of the facility application with the clinician
  • Reviews and ensures the quality of returned facility applications
  • Interacts directly with the clinician to correct application errors and omissions
  • Follows up and obtains outstanding verifications, references and other items pertaining to privileging on behalf of the MSO throughout the privileging process
  • Facilitates the request of temporary privileges
  • Prepares and submits the clinician credentialing packet to the MSO
  • Ongoing interactions with MSO to determine MSO review
  • Notifies relevant parties of “privileged” status and updates TeamHealth systems with all necessary information
  • Run monthly reports including Expiring Privilege Report and PLI Report; facilitate appropriate follow up activities
  • Planning and executing activities relating to reappointments with both MSOs and Clinicians

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE: 

  • HS Diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a health care setting, medical staff office or credentials position
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to meet deadlines and capable of working in stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
