Job Overview

The Clinical Services Manager provides support for clinical objectives set forth by operations, quality, and training. This position participates in telephone nurse consultant duties, charge nurse duties, quality monitoring, and training functions.  The Clinical Services manager reports to the Director of Clinical Services with additional oversight by the QI and Training department heads.

Essential Functions

  1. Uphold and support the mission, objectives and policies of the TeamHealth Medical Call Center.
  2. Responsible for meeting all essential functions of Nurse Consultant and Charge Nurse Roles.
  3. Maintain expertise in TeamHealth’s call handling applications and Training programs.
  4. Active involvement with the RN Training Program and Quality initiatives as needed.
  5. Facilitates positive communication with all departments and team members.
  6. Maintains current expertise in all company and client systems to function as a Telephone Nurse Consultant and Charge Nurse.
  7. Understands the operations and policies of medical call center services.
  8. Participates in leadership meetings as assigned.
  9. Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  10. Identifies staffing needs and ensures that the day, evening, and/or night shifts are staffed.
  11. Flexibility in scheduling/availability to fill-in as additional staff when needed.
  12. Required to cover on-call on a rotating basis and holidays.
  13. Responsible for managing call center productivity within the budgetary guidelines set by administration.
  14. In conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services, writes and conducts staff disciplinary actions when needed.
  15. Addresses issues identified by quality improvement monitoring with involved staff and assists with any corrective action plan.

Knowledge and Abilities

  1. This is a multispecialty role and requires the ability to communicate with all levels of call center personnel, patients, physicians, coworkers, staff and medical service providers.
  2. Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; thoughts are logical and clearly expressed.
  3. Detail oriented.
  4. Ability to recognize and deal with priorities effectively.
  5. Understand and uphold the call center policies and procedures.
  6. Highly effective leadership and effective problem solver.
  7. Excellent organizational abilities and documentation skills.
  8. Can make independent nursing decisions.
  9. Must be able to work well under stress and relate to the public, nurses and physicians in a tactful manner.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  2. Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Tennessee and other states as deemed necessary by state law or client contract.
  3. Preferred two years of call center experience meeting quality and productivity standards.
  4. Preferred two years of previous management experience.
  5. Participation in continuing education programs.
  6. Advanced assessment and teaching skills.
  7. Strong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to teach and motivate staff.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  1. Job performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting
  2. Occasional lifting/carrying 20 pounds or less
  3. Occasional travel
  4. Moderate to high stress levels
  5. Prolonged sitting.
  6. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, talk and hear.
  7. Vision abilities required; including close, distance and color vision necessary.
  8. Prolonged use of PC/computer and telephone.
