Job Description


The Clerk I is responsible for supporting the collection agency by performing clerical duties, special projects, and general tasks as assigned. In a high volume environment, the Clerk I reviews accounts for accuracy, processes affidavit and billing statement requests, investigates billing questions and disputes.


1.       Regular and reliable attendance is necessary.

2.       Timely processing of affidavit and statement requests (must be returned to agency within 30 days of signature).

3.       Answers phones

4.       Process communications data from agency and attorneys.

5.       Follow up by phone, mail and fax to agency and attorneys.


1.     Operate office equipment, such as copiers, scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.

2.     Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



1.     40 WPM Typing

2.     Excellent verbal and written communication skills

3.     Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel

4.     Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment.

5.     Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


1.     Minimum high school diploma or equivelant


1.     Minimum 1 year experience working in an office environment

2.     Clerical experience with a collection agency/healthcare billing company preferred


Pleasant, high-volume, fast paced, office environment. Ability to meet deadlines and production standards is required. Extensive computer use.

This position may require manual dexterity and /or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, and fax) and /or ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week if needed.
