Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clerk role is responsible for supporting the collection agency by performing clerical duties, special projects, and general tasks as assigned. In an extremely fast paced environment, the support clerk assists with the processing of correspondence, prepares bank deposits, posts payments to the collection management system, and performs dispute research along with many other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Open, sort and route incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail
  • Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests
  • Answer telephones and assist consumers
  • Collect, count, and disburse money, do basic bookkeeping and complete banking transactions

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computers
  • Train other staff members to perform work activities, such as using computer applications
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

     Skills

  • 40 WPM Typing
  • Proven oral and written communications skills
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work in fast paced environment.
  • Able to perform duties independently without direct supervision.
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Word and Excel

Education

  • Minimum High School diploma, or equivalent 

     Experience

  • 3+ Years of experience working in an office environment
  • Clerical experience within a collection agency/healthcare billing company preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Set in a pleasant, high-volume, fast-paced office environment.  Ability to meet closing deadlines and production standards is required.  Involves extensive computer use. 

Overtime may be required and can be mandated by Management.
