POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bill Out Clerk’s primary responsibility is to review, sign, and attach medical records to HCFA 1500 forms (HIC’s) generated by IDX.  The position is very critical in that it generates revenue for TeamHealth and accuracy and timeliness is essential.  Each Clerk is assigned a group of Facilities and depending on the State and type of filing must check each HIC for specifics to insure the payer’s specs are met.  All functions and priorities are set by the Senior and/or Supervisor.  Clerks must be a quick learner, detailed and flexible in handling multiple simultaneous tasks.  Position has physical demands and overtime on short notice.  Must work closely together with other Clerks to complete projects and distribution of work   Clerks must also meet standards set by the Department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • On a daily basis prints and processes claims.
  • Claims with detected errors are referred to the Departments generating the claim and if it’s a system or spec problem, refers them to the Senior for resolution.
  • Pulls and copies and mails medical record as required.
  • Participates in the work distribution and separation known as “check in”.
  • Logs in work by Facilities.
  • Separates by Carrier. 
  • Assists the File Room in pulling Medical records and payment vouchers.
  • Maintain all DMS requests by completion date.
  • Take direction from Supervisor and Senior.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Other Duties as assigned by Management.
  • Complies with all department and company policies and procedure

 

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mandatory overtime as directed by management
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and rearrange priorities.
  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to walking, lifting (20 lbs.) sitting, bending and standing for extended periods of time.

  • Basic IDX knowledge
  • Able to work in fast paced environment

  • Good organizational and communication skill.      

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 1 years experience in medical billing preferred
  • 1 year in clerical/office experience required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General office environment.  Prolonged sitting.  Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.  Bending, stooping may be required when working on office equipment. Job should be performed in a well-lighted, well vented office setting.
