Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for assisting in the daily billing and collections of outstanding accounts receivable for FLACS case rate revenue.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process billing for contracted Payers
  • For each Payer, add contracted CPT code and bill amount based on LOB and POS
  • Add appropriate Place of Service Codes (Inpt, ER, OBS, SNF…)
  • Post insurance and patient payments and balance to daily deposits
  • Assist in the monthly billing process via electronic and paper claims
  • Prepare patients’ accounts for deductible/co-pay billing and send out monthly statements
  • Research overpayments and process refund paperwork as necessary
  • Research and respond to all plan/patient inquiries in a timely manner
  • Research correct patient insurance information and update database as necessary
  • Inform Accounts Receivable Manager of any payment issues with health plans
  • Maintain database accuracy in data that is being processed
  • Ensure compliance with TeamHealth HM policies and procedures
  • Assist in projects assigned by the Manager Accounts Receivable Team
  • Follow-up calls and online reprocessing of claims to Payers for inappropriate denials
  • File appeals with Payers for denials related to "need Medical Records, No Auth, non Par…"
  • Assist with Patient self-pay phone calls, taking credit card payments or addressing questions
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a health care/billing setting
  • 2-year College degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Must possess superior organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with database management and software programs required

 



This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
