Job Description

This position is responsible for providing functional and managerial support to the Accounting Department for Acute Care Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of Accounting Department personnel and operations as assigned
  • Regular communication and problem resolution with SVP and management teams
  • Responsible for full cycle month end accounting closing, analytical reviews, and internal report preparation.
  • Prepare, review and approve month end journal entries for management related entries.
  • Coordinates, reviews, approves and maintains audit trails and schedules in General Ledger and any General Ledger Sub-Systems.
  • Responsible for preparation and presentation of monthly financial meetings with Divisional leaders, Regional Medical Directors, and VP’s of Operations (VPOs).
  • Actively assist in the development of the annual operating budgets in conjunction with rest of Finance team, Corporate and Operational personnel.
  • Actively assist in the development of monthly financial forecasts for the division in conjunction with rest of Finance team, Corporate and Operational personnel.
  • Hire, train and supervise appropriate accounting personnel.
  • Responsible for reviewing all Accounts Payable invoices. Uses independent judgment to approve invoices up to $10,000.
  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting for client contracting including timely invoicing, scheduled reconciliations, and collection of amounts owed.  
  • Develop, implement and monitor accounting policy, procedures and reporting systems to ensure a strong internal control environment and structure.
  • Responsible for communication to Recruiting, VPO, RMD and Legal departments on provider compensation.
  • Assist with preparation and communication of financial information for internal and external audits.
  • Perform special projects and other duties, as assigned

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:     

 

  • B.S./B.A. in Accounting/Finance, or related field, Masters preferred; CPA preferred but not required;
  • Five (5) years of related accounting (healthcare) experience preferred;
  • Three (3) years managerial experience preferred;
  • Three (3) years of advanced accounting computer expertise (including conversion experience);
  • Excellent computer skills (spreadsheet, database management, word-processing);
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Excellent judgment/decision making skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Ability to manage and direct others;
  • Ability to handle stress and conflict; and
  • Ability to adapt to change.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Supervises senior and staff accountants and oversees and develops small team of exempt and non-exempt level accounting personnel
