Job Requirements of Specialty Services Coder (Remote):
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in a remote environment
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and physician billing
- Proficiency in ICD-10 diagnostic coding and CPT procedural coding
- Prior training or experience in surgical, orthopedic, and/or obstetrical coding, preferred
- CPC, RHIT or CCS certification, preferred
- Minimum two (2) years medical coding experience is preferred
- Intermediate computer skills required, including a typing speed of at least 35-45 WPM
- Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail. Experience using Outlook in a professional setting is preferred

- None
PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Job performed in a semi-quiet setting
- Prolonged sitting
- Occasional lifting or carrying
This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:
The Specialty Services Coder is responsible for reviewing physician documentation to accurately capture applicable ICD-10 and CPT codes as well as providing feedback to Senior Coder on any documentation insufficiencies that need to be reported.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviewing patient charts for correct ICD-10 and CPT code assignment
- Review and proper assignment of all surgical and/or Obstetric codes
- Work in a remote environment, free of any distractions
- Review for any global code assignments
- Assign correct MIPS codes, as required
- Keying patient charges into IDX
- Analyzing records for documentation insufficiencies
- Maintaining quality standards
- Attend departmental and training meetings as scheduled
- Maintaining production standards
