Patient Safety Program Manager

OVERVIEW:

The Patient Safety Program Manager works collaboratively with other team members, including the Executive Director of the Patient Safety Office (PSO), IT, and the service line leaders, to coordinate patient safety initiatives. This position reports to the VP of Patient Safety and Clinical Education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform an intake review for all reported incidents
  • Determine the pathway for each event while ensuring appropriate protections and avoiding disclosures
  • Manage or assist with patient safety activities, including coordinating case reviews and providing feedback in a safe and secure manner; perform focused chart audits using large data sets
  • Analyze and trend data on an enterprise and service line level to identify opportunities; present findings to leadership in a professional and meaningful manner
  • Write and edit educational content for patient safety programs
  • Develop and maintain a quarterly Patient Safety newsletter
  • Assist with additional quality of care programs, such as responding to third party inquiries
  • Coordinate patient safety initiatives prioritized by the Patient Safety Office BOD, Exec Director and VP of Patient Safety and Clinical Education. Projects and initiatives should enhance the delivery of healthcare and improve our risk profile/mitigate risk

Job Requirements:



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree or (5) five years related experience in patient safety, risk management or business
  • Health care experience as a (RN, Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse) required
  • Experience triaging clinical incidents such as grievances, malpractice, board complaints
  • Deep understanding of the data and identifying trends of the incidents
  • Proficiency using Microsoft products including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity using Origami Risk or similar software
  • Experience presenting to clinical and non-clinical leadership
