QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of college or Associate Degree required with preferred coursework in English, communication, etc.
- 2+ years of related professional (preferably legal and/or contracting) experience required.
- Core strengths required: analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail, ability to retain and apply knowledge consistently, communication skills (written and verbal), organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and deadlines in a rapidly paced, dynamic environment and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and database management experience.
- Ability to adapt to a variety of new situations and change.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment; and,
- Working knowledge of business units and functional areas (HR, Legal, Compliance, Accounting, Provider Compensation, Recruiting, etc.) and how they integrate.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:
The Contracts Specialist is responsible for the overall contracting workflow for contracts between healthcare providers (employee and independent contractor physicians, advanced practice clinicians and other providers) and TeamHealth-affiliated legal entities, including the following: reviewing/verifying, entering and committing contract requests (new, edit and termination) in the contracting software; drafting, reviewing, sending, tracking and processing (once signed) provider contract documents; and managing and maintaining provider contract data and records. This position also provides additional administrative support for provider contracts, as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy and appropriateness of provider contract requests (new, edit and termination) received from recruiting, leadership and others in relationship to approved compensation and other approved contracting terms and policies and a provider’s existing contract(s). Interacts with recruiting, leadership, provider compensation and other stakeholders routinely to clarify and align on contract requests.
- Enters contract requests (new, edit and termination) received from recruiting, leadership and others into the contracting system in accordance with standard data governance policies and procedures and upstream and downstream process and system requirements.
- Ensures that authorized approval is received for nonstandard contract requests.
- Prepares/drafts all provider contract documents (new contracts, amendments, letters and ancillary documents) originating from accepted/approved contract requests.
- Performs quality assurance on contract document drafts for other Contract Specialists, as requested.
- Drafts nonstandard contract language and documents for review by Contracting leadership and legal.
- Sends contract documents to providers and monitors and manages the status of contract documents sent for signature via contracting and electronic signature software. Follows up on unsigned contract documents with recruiting, leadership and providers as needed.
- Commits finalized and approved contract requests in the contracting system to create and update provider contract records and follows up on additional action items issuing from the committed contract requests, as needed.
- Takes the lead on or assists with assigned provider contracting projects, such as facility-wide compensation changes, facility startups, facility terminations, national policy-driven changes, etc.
- Interfaces with finance, provider compensation and authorized leadership to confirm and align on approved compensation and revisions to compensation.
- Routinely partners with upstream and downstream functional areas, including recruiting, provider compensation, credentialing and scheduling, to align on contract requests and related process and data needs.
- Performs all duties in accordance with standard contracting policies and procedures and quality and efficiency goals for the team and contracting department overall.
- Performs routine maintenance on contract templates and language used by the team as directed by Contracting leadership and in conformance with national standard requirements and internal legal guidelines.
- Researches and responds to requests from providers, leadership, recruiting, provider compensation, human resources, legal and others regarding provider contract records and documents.
- Serves as a backup and additional resource within his/her own team and the other contracting teams, as requested, to cover leaves of absence, workload increases, special projects and other resource needs.
- At all times, serves as a responsible and fully engaged team member, attending all team and department meetings, participating in and fully supporting the implementation of process and system changes and team and department goals, participating in problem-solving and decision making, supporting centralized contracting and group/service line management decisions, being flexible and adaptable to change, establishing trust and respect from and for other team members, placing team needs first and completing all necessary training.
