Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer to design, implement, secure, and manage public and private cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to work independently, prioritize existing projects, and proactively determine areas requiring additional attention, monitoring, or maintenance. This person will have the confidence and expertise to define problems, collect data, and formulate solutions both independently and working as a team. They are considered the “go to person” in their organization. This position will be primarily focused on supported the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely within the Development and Operations organizations to architect, automate, and deploy new infrastructure and middleware in our Azure public cloud
  • Maintain and transform traditional infrastructure deployment model to an infrastructure as code model with automation and monitoring
  • Provide 3rd level support on Azure cloud systems platforms
  • Analyze data, establish trends, validate baselines, and identify outliers
  • Manage deployments and configurational changes across staging, test, and production environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments
  • Develop automated approaches to streamline operations and processes
  • Automate the service delivery processes for new and existing solution offerings
  • Create scripts to provide secure and seamless dataflow within our infrastructure
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new systems and enhancements to existing systems
  • Provide 24x7x365 technical support when required
  • Handle escalations related to upgrades or new client provisions
  • Respond and mitigate server performance alerts as needed
  • Research new cloud technologies and prototype solutions that can be leveraged to decrease costs and increase performance
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Mentor existing staff on Azure cloud computing best practices and technology to drive cloud adoption

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent technology discipline and/or equivalent related experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting WITH 3+ years’ experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure technologies and large virtualized and distributed enterprise environments (Azure AD/Entra ID, Azure VMs and VM Scale sets, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), load balancing, VNET management, network security groups, Azure Files and Blob storage, Azure SQL, Subscription management, Azure App Service Plans, Functions, etc.)
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Operations functions and tools (Azure Arc, patch management, Azure Cloud Shell, Azure Advisor, Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, Log Analytics, Application Insights, etc.)
  • Experience troubleshooting and understand how to setup a geographically redundant service in the cloud
  • Experience with CI/CD methodology
  • Experience with ARM templates and/or Terraform (or AWS CloudFormation), and a scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Proven success automating previously manual processes
  • Track record of working with mission critical systems that are client facing
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products
  • Experience with leveraging Cloud cost reduction strategies to maximize value from IT budgets
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Git to automate infrastructure in a cloud environment
  • Experience with AWS and VMWare considered a plus
