JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

Under direct supervision, the Reg/ Charge Entry rep is responsible for resolution of pre billing edits, financial classification and Data Entry. The Reg/Charge Entry Rep preps daily reports via Excel for their assigned region (s) to resolve unbilled encounters. The position works in a cooperative team environment. The Reg/ Charge Entry Rep carries out his/her duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct and acts in the best interest of TeamHealth.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for resolving unbilled encounters through pre billing reports. Not limited to the following: TES Edits, Exceptions, Rejections and Claim Edits
  • Responsible for reviewing and coding face sheet accruals based on TeamHealth FSC Guide into the system and maintaining those files on an ongoing basis.
  • Responsible for having working knowledge of payer eligibility and benefits verification/billing guidelines. Has complete understanding and working knowledge of navigating payer websites.
  • Responsible for high volume, accurate and rapid data entry of patient face sheets into our billing software (IDX or Registration App) and/or MS Excel spreadsheet (if needed).
  • Responsible for all daily productivity reporting requirements.
  • Maintains and exceeds department standards for productivity and quality.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations for private health information.
  • Continually seeks to understand and act upon employer/customer needs, concerns, and priorities.  Meets employer/customer expectations and requirements, and gains employer/customer trust and respect.
  • Functions effectively within a team and participates and contributes constructively to produce results in a cooperative effort.

  • Responsible for maintaining your workload within your department metric goals
  • Maintains ongoing knowledge of HCFA 1500 and other mandatory state billing forms and filling and follow up requirements and ensures compliance of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 coding regulations and guidelines.
  • Coordinates with and provides feedback to management regarding process improvements, trends, errors or issues as they relate to the registration department.

May perform special assignments and other related tasks as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:      

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some billing experience or graduation from vocational medical billing college.
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment focused on meeting organization goals and objectives is necessary.
  • Knowledge of basic math and the ability to perform math functions in units of American currency.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to review documents for accuracy and reasonability.
  • Ability to determine priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate schedules and information.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Tact and patience when dealing with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the company.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, in person and on the telephone, and in writing, with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the company.
  • Knowledge of IDX and/or Oracle helpful.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and follow through without direct supervision.

  • Ability to operate a computer (i.e., Microsoft Office-including Excel and Word) efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to operate various office machines (i.e., fax, copier).

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

 

  • May require the manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) lifting up to 30 pounds, and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions to comply with the essential functions.
  • Requires the physical and/or mental stamina to meet production and quality standards to comply with the essential functions.
  • May require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week with mandatory overtime as directed by Management.
