JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for the management of database administrator and systems. This position interfaces with all teams across the corporate structure in matters that relate to the installation, configuration and maintenance of data base servers for the enterprise network. They oversee the development and implementation of database security policies and procedures. They insure mitigation of vulnerabilities. The oversee server configurations to support enterprise-wide communications between local and remote data management and web servers. They have a working knowledge of the systems their team supports and can serve as technical leadership for their team. Performs administrative duties in relationship to the management of their direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ideal candidate is one that is hands-on 50% of the time, leading people 40%, vision 10%
  • Manage personnel and processes related to Installs, configures and maintains data management servers and related software including Oracle, SQLServer, and Kronos.
  • Manage team in relationship to disaster recovery and high availability.
  • Manage Scrum meetings, sprint boards and assist with operational intake prioritization
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board meetings
  • Monitors and tunes servers for optimum performance.
  • Manage both physical and virtual database environments
  • Maintains system security and develops procedures for the creation, update and removal of user accounts. Lead in the development and maintains a network based security structure to secure data for the authorized system users, both local and remote.
  • Evaluates data management security vulnerabilities and develops associated risk mitigation plans.
  • Provides technical leadership to User Support and applications development as necessary to remedy problems with desktop and server configurations.
  • Lead technical staff offshore resources

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or engineering;
  • Experience in database and application administration.
  • Experience with Oracle or SQLServer required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work with and manage without authority a variety of personality types; Experience working with senior managers.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical problems and provide solutions.
  • Experience handling business and personal confidential information
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal direction/supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) the ability to bridge communications between technical and non-technical communities required.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing complex project schedules, managing risk registry, and preparing meaningful status reports required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an orientation towards professionalism and customer service.
  • Possess a high aptitude for learning with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
  • Experience in coordinating simultaneous assignments, following work priorities, meeting project deadlines, and coordinating personal work schedule.
  • Occasional work in the evenings/weekends and participation in on-call rotation that includes accessibility by mobile phone.
  • Experience with traditional VLDB and virtualization
  • Experience working with offshore resources is a plus
  • Experience with open source platforms, cloud implementation, big data is a plus
  • Minimal Travel

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
