Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

Obtain and process internal D&Y provider applications and supporting documentation for purposes of provider malpractice insurance underwriting and to supply all needed information, paperwork and applications to client medical staff offices for granting of privileges to providers for scheduled assignment dates.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiate the process for insuring malpractice coverage for all contracted providers.
  • Process provider application for D&Y internal credentialing purposes.
  • Ensure all needed documentation is on file for all contracted providers.
  • Process physician applications for facility privileges.
  • Perform follow-up with contracted facility in order to expedite provider privileges.
  • Coordinate, complete, and follow-up on the reappointment process for contracted facilities.
  • Document process and interactions in database and maintain accurate follow-up information in database.
  • Maintain personal adherence to professional confidentiality standards established within the department and in accordance with legal, ethical, and hospital policies.
  • Contacts providers, facilities, and others to obtain necessary documentation for credentials in a timely manner based on company service standards.
  • Interacts with internal sales and management personnel to inform of progress and/or obtain assistance issues on credentials of providers.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:       

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required. Some college coursework desired.
  • One or more years’ experience in a medical staff office or credentialing position strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Good computer skills with intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and an ability to learn new computer applications.
  • Ability to perform accurate work in a timely manner and to meet internal service expectations.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent work interruptions.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions and effectively communicate decisions.
  • Ability to coordinate and meet deadlines and maintain professional composure.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

 

 

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Job is performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled modern office setting.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Moderate stress level.
  • Prolonged sitting with extensive use of computer/PC and telephone.
  • Minimal bending and standing.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week
