Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

This position must become familiar with all the different insurance companies’ explanation of benefits (EOB) forms or denials. This position requires the ability to filter and maneuver on hospital remote access sites. The employee must have good organizational skills and be production oriented as well as have some computer knowledge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process the explanation of benefits that are to be attached to claim forms, in house requests, and ETM requests;
  • Retrieves EOBs and makes copies from the payment files for other departments;
  • Looks up EOB information on IDX to ensure information is correct when it cannot be located;
  • Process remote access medical record requests;
  • Maintain a Daily Log;
  • Serve as cross-coverage for other departments’ tasks, as needed;
  • All other responsibilities as requested by management.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • 6 months experience working with insurance in an office or hospital environment preferred;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Ability to stay focused and follow tasks through to completion;
  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance;
  • High level of interaction and teamwork.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: 

  • Job performed in a well-lit, semi-quiet work area;
  • Occasional lifting/carrying (15 pounds or less);
  • Prolonged sitting;
  • Prolonged work on computer.

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
