JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:
The Vice President, Finance & Operations, is a key member of the D&Y Executive Management Team and the senior financial and operational leader of the business unit. Reporting to the President of Affiliated Services at TeamHealth, this individual is responsible for providing financial oversight, strategic planning, operational execution, and leadership. This role ensures alignment with TeamHealth's overall financial and operational goals, driving performance, compliance, and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Develops and implements a strategic business plan aligning with both short- and long-term goals, ensuring resource allocation and growth execution.

  • Reports regularly to the President of Affiliated Services, providing critical updates on D&Y’s operational and financial performance.

  • Provides proactive leadership to anticipate and meet ongoing managerial, operational, and functional needs.

  • Creates and maintains a succession plan for key roles, focusing on career development and organizational continuity.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally with other TeamHealth service lines to deliver high-quality physician services.

Finance & Accounting Oversight

  • Leads all financial operations, including month-end close, journal entry approvals, reconciliations, and income statement/balance sheet analysis.

  • Oversees the budgeting process and ensures overall EBITDA performance and fiscal compliance for D&Y.

  • Manages monthly projections, quarterly reviews, and recurring financial reports (MOR and QBR).

  • Interfaces with TeamHealth's finance departments to direct accounting functions, oversee AP/AR, and provide audit support.

  • Reviews financial performance and AR trends related to locum tenens assignments; assesses impact on consolidated TeamHealth budget.

  • Manages monthly sales commissions and quarterly gainsharing plans.


Operational Management

  • Provides leadership across daily operations, including provider payments, billing, accounts payable/receivable, assignment confirmations, and regulatory reporting.

  • Approves high-value financial transactions (e.g., provider payments > $75K, AP disbursements > $5K).

  • Leads office management functions, including facilities and security.

  • Oversees company events, vendor relations (e.g., World Travel Services), office technology, and collaboration with TeamHealth IT and Treasury.

  • Guides monthly workforce planning (WFP), merit increases, and HR coordination.

Compliance & Policy Development

  • Provides oversight to the development and implementation of operational policies covering physician relations, client relations, compensation, benefits, budgeting, and compliance.

  • Ensures timely registration and reporting with state agencies and regulatory bodies.

  • Provides expert financial and technical advice across the organization and leads the financial planning function for D&Y.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervises key personnel, including the D&Y Accounting Manager and Office Assistant, with regular check-ins and performance guidance.

  • Facilitates bi-weekly and monthly leadership meetings and roundtables (e.g., Company Meetings, Sales Rounding, Senior Admin Roundtable).

  • Engages with internal legal counsel and external attorneys for AR/collections management.

  • Establishes credibility and fosters collaboration across the TeamHealth network and internal departments.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in finance and operations, preferably within healthcare or staffing.
  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, improving financial performance, and executing business plans.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
