The Revenue Cycle Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring proper follow-up occurs on specialty billing and complex claims not worked by the billing center operations. Maintains accuracy and quota to ensure invoices are being processed efficiently. This position will also assist with investigation and data review of complex claims and billing processes.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:
The Revenue Cycle Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring proper follow-up occurs on specialty billing and complex claims not worked by the billing center operations. Maintains accuracy and quota to ensure invoices are being processed efficiently. This position will also assist with investigation and data review of complex claims and billing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews task list assignment, comments, and rebills claim as necessary
- Research and review history of accounts including but not limited to review of medical records, review of account level, medical record number (MRN) details, review of previous billing activity
- Assembles and forwards appropriate documentation to the Revenue Cycle Analyst for carrier-related issues
- Calls to carrier and facility to obtain additional information on claim needed for adjudication
- Reports any consistent errors found during review that affect claims from being processed correctly
- Investigate and resolve any issues related to specific billing processes
- Turns to management for unusual circumstances that may include write-offs, fee schedules, claims, etc.
- Perform simple query data pulls from Informatics to assist with trends
- Participates in department meetings as needed
- Performs all duties as directed by Revenue Cycle Support Analyst, Revenue Cycle Support Director, or Revenue Cycle Support VP
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
- Six months medical billing experience
- Familiar with billing regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of physician billing policies and procedures
- Computer literate
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Natural problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot
- Ability to work well independently and with others
- High school diploma or equivalent
