OVERVIEW:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Engineer with a strong focus on VMware and hypervisor technologies to join our data center infrastructure team. This role will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level virtualization and storage solutions that are critical to our organization’s success. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with VMware, Windows, storage systems, core systems, infrastructure and the ability to collaborate across teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
The Senior System Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of data center systems hardware and software. This position provides assistance to the Enterprise Architecture, Network Engineering, InfoSec, Database Administration, Applications Development and Service Desk teams. This position requires extensive VMware and Windows experience for supporting a multi-site (1500+ VM) environment. Hardware experience with Cisco UCS systems is desired. SAN experience with Purestorage over iSCSI is a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware environments, including vSphere and related components
  • Work closely with Systems Administration, Cloud, and Networking teams to ensure seamless integration of VMware, compute and storage systems
  • Monitor virtualization and storage environments to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patches on infrastructure systems.
  • Technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure
  • Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values
  • Assists with various project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases within the TeamHealth project methodologies


Job Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
  • Five years or more of experience maintaining servers and clients in an enterprise network environment
  • VMware Certification required.
    Other Hypervisor certifications are a plus.
  • Microsoft certification desired
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical problems and provide solutions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction or supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an orientation towards professionalism and customer service
  • Possess a high aptitude for learning with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies
  • Experience in coordinating simultaneous assignments, following work priorities, meeting project deadlines, and coordinating personal work schedule
  • Responsibilities require occasional evening and weekend work, sometimes with little advanced notice, and participation in an on-call rotation
  • No regular travel required
