Lead LPN- Fairfield County Jail

Administrative/Supervisor/Site Lead Duties:

  • Receive report from officers on any medical occurrence or concerns
  • Review receiving screens from new intakes for medical concerns
  • Prepare day for oncoming nurses-14 day assessments due, sick call inmates to be seen, and receiving screen inmates, releases and transfers
  • Assign duties/task for nurses:
  • Assessments
  • Stock treatment and med carts
  • BP checks
  • Dressing changes
  • Ensure assigned task are completed
  • Chart audits
  • Medical record maintenance
  • Schedule outside appointments-lab/dental/OB/MAT and notify transport team
  • Prepare Physician sick call
  • Be present and informed during visit
  • Take off and process orders
  • Send orders to pharmacy for fill
  • Complete MAR
  • Schedule tests or appointments
  • Nursing staff schedule
  • assign on-call
  • ensure call offs are covered
  • Provide schedule and on-call to Lt. Hodder and shift Sgts.
  • Disciplinary actions
  • Order medical supplies and medications
  • Liaison for Mental Health
  • Liaison for medical to Lt. Hodder
  • Communicate directly with service line Director
  • Follow up on ROI and pharmacy requests
  • Daily/monthly stats-ensure completion
  • Check Medical mail-disseminate anything handled by other such as medical bills
  • Assist in clinic/pod when needed
  • Other duties/projects as assigned
Hours are Monday-Friday 7AM-4PM with 1 hour lunch allotted

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing or certified Paramedic program
  • 2 to 3 years of experience working as a LPN/Paramedic in a medical environment
  • Valid registration as an LPN or Paramedic in the State of Ohio
  • Possession of current CPR Certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the standard operating procedures of the Correctional Health Care Division.
  • Knowledge of all emergency care procedures and ability to render emergency patient care.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in the delivery of health care and its care.
  • Ability to accurately follow specific instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to assess potentially dangerous situations and take the appropriate action to safeguard self, other employees and inmates.
  • Skill in the use of radio equipment.
  • Knowledge of State Standards for Jails as applicable to this position.
  • Ability to make sound and reasonable decisions under stressful conditions.
